Galleri Oslo constitutes a physical and visual barrier between
the city centre and the neighbourhood of Grønland. Propos-
als to relocate the bus terminal are currently being developed.
This opens up for possibilities to rethink Vaterland and the
relationship between the city centre and Grønland. The area
around Oslo Central Station is valuable for the hotel sector due
to its proximity to international and domestic transport sys-
tems. A conference centre located here would accentuate the
attractiveness of Oslo’s city centre for business and commerce.
There is a great demand for housing in Oslo, so a program of
small apartments would be a counterweight to the high-end
development along the fjord. Oslo lacks sports facilities and
arenas. A large sports hall would act as a mediator between the
business district and the housing areas, and be very accessible
due to its proximity to the metro station.
