The
Juvel
glass lamps were developed as part of the studio course Technoform,
with Magnor glassworks as hypothetical client. The series consists of three
lamps that have a common wood base and a trio of unique glass domes. The
idea behind the name of the design series was the association of the lamps with
glass jewels: unique and precious objects, which are blown, turned and sanded
by hand. The choice of materials was in many ways a framework condition for
the aesthetic production. In this way, the lights were given a form and function
that sought to utilize and emphasize the beauty and quality of handmade glass.
The floating yet defined forms of the Juvel lamps were designed to accentuates
the shine and sparkle of the traditional glassworks´ glass. Each object also gives
an ambient, glowing and dimmable light. When turned off, the glass lamps still
function as decorative elements in the home.
The photographs show the Smaragd (Emerald) prototype.
