INDUSTRIAL DESIGN 1: TECHNOFORM
Master studio
|
One semester
This is a branding project developed for, and in collaboration
with Aker Solutions. The brief was to design an exhibition to
promote their new Multi Work Over Control System (Multi-
WOCS). Industrial design has not yet gained popularity within
the oil and gas industry, and the field is relatively unexplored.
With different companies offering similar technology with
generic expression and design, branding becomes an important
tool to strengthen the identity, and improving the market posi-
tion of the company. The focus here is on how Aker Solutions
could present themselves at different oil and gas fairs around
the globe. Based on one the company’s core values of open and
direct dialogue, the MultiWOCS was exhibited in its natural
context. By giving the visitors an experience of being in the
North Sea and displaying the highly technologic functions, a
tangible connection to the working environment is created.
Sound design, interactive surfaces and projections were used to
communicate the functions and context. It’s designed to meet
the logistic needs of disassembly and transportation between
different locations around the world. This is a project devel-
oped in collaboration with Aker Solutions for the Technoform
course at The Oslo School of Architecture and Design.
