AHO WORKS - STUDIES 2011-2012 - page 181

Industrial Design 1: Technoform
Associate Professor Steinar Killi
Technoform
focuses on how industrially
made products and artifacts have become
what they are today, what they might be like
in the future and factors that drive these
changes. Reflecting upon these concerns,
we examine a set terms that have emerged
and inspire us, namely evolution, revolution,
paradigm and paradigm shift.
Interaction Design 1:
Materials of Interaction
Associate Professor Anthony Rowe
Materials of Interaction
launches students
into the world of Interaction Design by fo-
cusing on the core skills and materials used
in designing for physical and digital inter-
actions. The course focuses on how humans
engage with physical everyday objects, and
how the functionality, meaning and usage
of these objects can be extended through
digital augmentation.
Systems Oriented Design
Professor Birger Sevaldson
Systems Oriented Design
provides training
in collaboration with partners from in-
dustry and organisations, for tomorrow’s
profession where the ability to tackle com-
plex challenges and produce intelligent
and synergistic solutions are key. A deeper
understanding of relationships, systems and
the consequences of our design procedures
will potentially lead to innovative solutions
and open up new design fields.
Industrial Design 2: ProtoHype
Professor Håkan Edelholt
ProtoHype
develops the students’ ability
to facilitate a design innovation process
in high-tech research environments. The
students work together in design studios
and develop new product concepts for real
clients from the Oslo MedTech network. In
the second part the “design offices” produce
concepts relevant to each client’s particular
market.
Interaction Design 2:
Beyond the Screen
Associate Professor Mosse Sjaastad
In a world where visual interfaces are in-
creasingly prevalent, designers are faced
with fascinating, complex and highly rele-
vant challenges.
Beyond the Screen
explores
how these interfaces can be effectively
integrated into networks and spaces, the
information they contain and the messages
they impart, and how we as users engage
and interact with them.
Service Design 1
Professor Simon Clathworthy
Many of today’s designers are designing
products that are a part of services, or even
designing the services themselves. The
course teaches the skills necessary to be able
to carry out design work on services in the
future. During spring 2012 students worked
with Posten Bring Dialog to improve their
market position and service offering.
