Introduction to Design
is the first course
in the Foundation curriculum. As a prac-
tice-based studio it provides a general
introduction to design and three areas of
specialization: Product Design, Interaction
Design and Interdisciplinary Design. It also
provides inspiration for the upcoming study.
The assignments introduce 2D and 3D
design methods. In addition the students
are taught freehand drawing, material
techonology and architectural and design
history up to 1900.

Introduction to Design: The Fields We Teach
is
the second part of the basic course in design,
and builds on knowledge gained from the
first semester course. As a rehearsal- and
practice-based course it continues the
general introduction into design and into the
three areas of specialisation: Product Design,
Interaction Design and Interdisciplinary
Design. It also encourages students to look
toward a long design project. In addition,
students are taught digital drawing, material
technology II and modern architectural and
design history from 1900 until today.
