Medium-scale Architecture: A Territorial, Urban and
Architectural Constitution of the Barents Sea

The project discusses the territorial scenario of
the Sydvaranger mine after the end of mining
activities in the year 20xx, initiating the meas-
ures for natural reclaiming and offering a vision
for sustainable future development of the min-
ing landscape. The existing extreme landforms
are suggested to be retained for their historic,
environmental and touristic value. Flooding
the Bjørnevatn reservoir will create a new arti-
ficial lake. Local forms of vegetation should be
reintroduced and cultivated wherever this is
possible.
