The Institute of Architecture aims to educate architects of international standing. It strives
to maintain a consistently high level of education that reflects the diversity of ideas and
approaches that underlie good architecture. This will ensure that students acquire the com-
petence, ability and willingness to realise buildings of high architectural quality. The Institute
seeks to establish a research and development culture that makes AHo a centre of excellence
for the development of contemporary and future architecture. The Institute plays an important
part in AHo’s three-year foundation in architecture and the two-year master programme that
leads to the final Diploma project (master thesis). Housing will be given priority in the forth-
coming semesters. research relevance is sought across the curriculum. The research centre
for Architecture and Tectonics was established within the Institute in 2011.
