One semester
The task was to design a group of tourist cabins that are inde-
pendent of traditional infrastructure for energy, water and sew-
er, in Hamningberg, a fishing village far north of the Finnmark
coast. It offers spectacular views to the Barents Sea. Nine cabins
for all year round usage were placed around a large rock forma-
tion by the shore. Elaborate design was carried out for the fold-
ed cross-laminated wood construction. A plant for local waste
purification was hidden in abandoned fortifications inside the
rock. The tube systems were integrated in the footbridges that
provide universal access to the cabins.

An orphanage for refugees serves as a meeting point between
fleeing nd seeking. This is where those who h ve fled re safe, but
ofte they don’t feel safe. The mind will have to catch up. Building
new relations with the city a d the n w pe ple they meet is the
most important element in the search for that feeling The project
tries in different way , both spati lly and by the use of mate ials,
to strengt n the relations b tween tho e who live he e.
Placed west on the site the orphanage leaves an open sp c
that main ai s the connection between the church orth of
site and t sea south of th site. At the same time i closes off a
part f the site that connec s to the water and makes it private.
