Hovinbyen and the Grorud valley will be subject to one of the largest urban densification pro-
jects in Oslo in the coming decades. 35000 apartments are to be built. The current plans appear
fragmented so connecting these fragments into a larger whole is an absolute necessity. We have
made a proposal for 1000 apartments, a transit hub, business-, shopping- and cultural services in
the Breivoll area, linking the existing plans for Breivoll with the plans for Alnabru and Haraldrud.
Transformation of existing infrastructure can make the Breivoll area more liveable. Relocating
the E6 highway opens up for densification along its old route, transformed into a green city street
giving priority to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. The cargo terminal at Alnabru and
the railway main line passing trough the area will be retained and developed as an urban element.
Breivoll will be established as a hub for railways, metro, tram and bus.
