Farmers produce with full knowledge of the land, their tools
and the natural cycles. The farm is governed by rules: biolog-
ical, mechanical and governmental. The project is a set draw-
ings and texts to be used by both amateurs and professional
farmers looking to specialize. We focused on rigorously gath-
ering information on a specific discipline (apple cultivation)
in a specific region (Sørfjord, Hardanger). We asked, what is
the physical composition of the Hardanger farm, including
the hardware, structures, and characters (both human and an-
imal). Can one describe the complete life cycle of the apple,
from the growth and development on the orchard to the final,
edible product? The highly rationalized nature of farming,
and the science of agriculture, became increasingly evident.
These technical demands became the catalyst and the format.
