WAITING fOR THE MOUNTAIN

Near Hellesylt, a future landslide is predicted to cause an unstoppable tsunami powerful
enough to wash away the entire village. Experts tell us that the mountain will fall between
now and 5000 years. In the meantime, we wait. To provide a level of meaningful protection
before, during and after the flood, architecture must be more than a cultural fire extinguisher.
It must accept being the framework that carries our communal memories.
