Design for Diversity
FOUNDATION SECOND YEAR | FOUR WEEK MODULE
This project was arranged in cooperation with a firm of
undertakers. Students worked in small groups and were
asked to deliver a short, visually-based report document-
ing the process; their final product solutions; a full-scale
physical model; and at least one item of decorative materi-
als such as candlestick, flower holder or vase. The project
was evaluated on an understanding and interpretation of
the tasks given from the undertaker; a variety of ideas and
creativity; aesthetics and expression; professionalism and
presentation.

Methods and Technology in the Design Process
FOUNDATION SECOND YEAR | FOUR WEEK MODULE
Three different projects explored four different production
methods including: injection molding, blow molding, alu-
minum extrusion and direct digital manufacturing (DDM),
using 3D printers for end productions. The use of data feeds
and tangible interactions were introduced as method and
tools when working with DDM. The picture shows a pro-
posed bottle design for the iconic Norwegian beverage, Solo,
made with a 3D printer.
