The Institute of Urbanism and Landscape is dedicated to teaching, research and development within
urbanism and landscape architecture. It emphasizes a broad multidisciplinary approach, with particular
attention paid to challenges posed by the design of the urban and landscape environment. The Institute
maintains a strong international profile, with a well-established network of partner institutions. The insti-
tute has a long research history (in an AHO context), and was the first research environment to receive
substantial NCR funding. The institute has also hosted a large number of PhD students, including a number
of East African SIU-funded students.
