          ONE SEMESTER

This project explores how the landscape

of a rock quarry can be reclaimed after its

commercial life. Informed by its inherent

characteristics and the context of its locality,

how can the quarry be transformed from an

inaccessible wasteland into a public quarry-

scape, conducive to both ecological and urban

          welfare? Proposed design interventions include

establishing an aspen forest sanctuary for

          the endangered vermillion beetle (sinober-

bille); a network of pathways on existing and

new infrastructure that connects the site to

its surroundings; strategic vistas and places

inside the quarry; and public programmes for

rock climbing, scuba diving, concerts, events

          and dining.
