The Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) works: during an academic

year there is an enormous amount of hard work and activity given the faculty

and students’ dedication to excellence. AHO WORKS STUDIES presents and

celebrates a selection of work the school has produced over the course of the

          academic year 2011–2012.

Highlights from the year are presented alongside the four different Institutes

that comprise the educational programme at AHO. A perspective from faculty

members provides a personal insight into an integral aspect of the teaching

curriculum. A programme summary introduces a representative selection of

student projects from the various courses as well as selected master Diplo-

mas. An overview of all courses taught, faculty and students enrolled during

the academic year 2011–2012 concludes the book. The intention is to show the

diversity and trends that characterise current faculty and student views within

the professional fields of architecture and design.

This volume is the first in a new series of books under the heading AHO

WORKS STUDIES. It will be complemented by a parallel series AHOWORKS

RESEARCH, the first of which will cover research during the calendar year 2012.

AHO has a tradition of presenting student work at the AHOWORKS STUDIO

+ DIPLOMA exhibitions as well as through yearbooks, and most recently, three

books called AHO WORKS Student Projects Review. These books were edited

by a group of students headed by Professor Christian Hermansen. This new

series continues the tradition. As editor, I would like to congratulate and thank

all the students and faculty for their excellent work.
