IMPACT,
DISSEMINATION
AND EVENTS
The Oslo School of Architecture and Design acknowledges
the role of the institution as a site for experiment and crit-
ical thinking. Impact comes both from the specific research
developments originating within the institution and from
the participation of institution members in a continuing cul-
tural debate and the creation of the physical environment.
We work to orchestrate initiatives that link our research and
teaching cultures, and exploit strong networks that work
outwards towards the architectural, planning, engineering
and design professions and onwards into society.
Fundamental to this strategy is the process of creating plat-
forms where research, education, and practice can meet,
with a crucial characteristic of spreading professional, ed-
ucational and research discourse into the wider context. To
this end we record here, by date and geographical spread,
a selection of the dissemination events coordinated by
AHO faculty during 2012, or in which faculty have been key
players. Impact in terms of cultural enrichment is increased
through identifying AHO clearly as a recognised centre for
knowledge production; thus both events organised at home
and away are key to this institutional ambition.
This net is world-wide and cannot be articulated without
some reflection. An important strategic point for AHO in
the future is how to resolve the demands of establishing
networks, including human contacts, with the need to act
within an environmentally sustainable agenda.
