The Oslo School of Architecture and Design
In the last ten years the School has developed strongly as a cen-
tre for advanced study, both in applied and pure research, re-
search by design and in research education, through its PhD
programme. AHO is organized around four institutes relating
to its educational disciplines — Institute of Design, Institute of
Form, Theory and History, Institute of Architecture and Insti-
tute of Urbanism and Landscape. The School’s investment in
research is made through research centres attached to each in-
stitute. These provide depth and focus that informs and inspires
teaching and practice.
AHO is located in the center of Oslo, in a revitalised industrial
area near the Aker River. Adjacent to the Oslo National Acade-
my of the Arts and the recently opened Food Hall and Vulkan,
the school thrives in an innovative, creative and cultural part
of the city.
